This fall has been one of the most beautiful displays of color — ever. But perhaps more notable than the most picturesque autumn landscape has been the displays of abundant family love.

It was an absolute joy to capture the Kirk Family photos at Hok Si La Park in Lake City, Minn. in October. We started in the tall pines and finished with a family walk on the beach alongside Lake Pepin — where the cousins skipped rocks, found sand-covered sticks and g-i-g-g-l-e-d as the wind whipped through their hair.
Philosopher George Santayana wrote “The family is one of nature’s masterpieces” and that’s it — that was this session. It is why I love photographing families. More now than ever.
