And then he ate some radishes…

As a child, I adored “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” by Beatrix Potter. Maybe because my dad’s name is Peter and one of our dog’s names was McGregor, named after Mr. McGregor of course, but also because I loved the naughtiness of such a cute bunny.

The irony is now I have my own Peter. My boy Banyan, nicknamed Bam Bam, is that naughty bunny. He keeps us girls giggling as he hops around the house and yard from everywhere he shouldn’t be. Good thing he is so cute.

It only took a few minutes for the tea party to unravel, but I got a picture of him in dad’s old sweet baby blue suit, complete with matching duckling sweater. My mother-in-law has kept some amazing pieces of wardrobe including this Easter suit.

But Peter wriggled out just in time, leaving his jacket behind him.

Aspen is such an amazing big sister. She was giggling so hard when Banyan took his jacket off, as Olive kept on singing. Love her priceless smile, I can just hear her laughing.

But Peter, who was very naughty, ran straight away to Mr. McGregor’s garden and squeezed under the gate.

First he ate some lettuce and some French beans, and then he ate some radishes.

If Banyan were Peter Rabbit, the story would go on to say: And then he spit the food out and asked Mr. McGregor for chocolate milk and more food. Then he dipped the food in the chocolate milk and ate it.

I love my kids to the moon and back, their crazy little quirks are exhausting but these are days of soaking it all in. Like chocolate milk soaks into one of Banyan’s waffles…

What are your or your kids’ quirky eating habits?

Thanks to my sister Samantha for sending this darling Beatrix Potter banner a few years back.
